Conveyor Roller For Hot Strip Mill Laminar Cooling Line

Conveyor Roller For Hot Strip Mill Laminar Cooling Line

Details
Our laser‑cladded conveyor rollers (laminar cooling rollers) are core high‑performance components installed on the laminar cooling section between the hot‑strip finishing mill and coiler. They support and transport high‑speed hot‑rolled strip steel under extreme working conditions: continuous contact with high‑temperature strip, cyclic thermal shock, oxide‑scale abrasion, plus repeated water spray erosion and corrosion from laminar cooling circulating water.

Product Overview

Adopting advanced laser cladding surface strengthening technology, high‑alloy powder is metallurgically fused onto the roller surface to form a dense, pore‑free protective overlay. It solves common failures of conventional rollers: surface corrosion, thermal‑fatigue cracking, coating spalling and premature wear. Stable roundness of roller surface avoids indentations and scratches on hot strip surface, guaranteeing finished‑strip quality. Both new‑manufacture and remanufacturing services for used rollers are available.

Core Technology - Laser Cladding

High‑energy laser beam works as heat source, alloy powder is synchronously fed into molten pool. Powder and roller substrate melt and solidify rapidly to achieve reliable metallurgical bonding. Dilution rate is precisely controlled within 3%‑8% (below 5% for premium grade), preserving complete alloy properties of cladding layer. WC‑reinforced composite cladding or nickel‑base corrosion‑resistant alloy cladding (Ni625, Inconel625) can be selected for combined wear‑corrosion service conditions.

Key Product Features

✅ High‑Strength Metallurgical Bonding

Cladding layer forms genuine metallurgical bonding with roller substrate, reaching substrate‑level bonding strength. Resists spalling and cracking under alternating hot‑cold cyclic load and water‑medium corrosion, delivering much higher reliability than thermal‑spray coatings. Effectively cuts unplanned downtime for hot‑strip production lines.

✅ Small Heat‑Affected Zone & Minimal Distortion

Concentrated laser energy input creates small molten pool with rapid cooling. Roller overall deformation is kept very low; base‑material microstructure remains stable. Less post‑cladding grinding allowance, well‑suited for high‑precision long cylindrical laminar cooling rollers with strict run‑out and roundness requirements.

✅ Balanced Wear, Corrosion & Thermal‑Fatigue Resistance

Surface hardness reaches HRC45‑55. Service life of laser‑cladded rollers is 2‑5 times that of conventional hard‑faced rollers and 5‑10 times of ordinary heat‑treated rollers. Nickel‑base alloy cladding provides excellent anti‑corrosion performance against cooling circulating water and oxide‑scale erosion, resisting thermal fatigue under frequent temperature alternation.

✅ Adapt to High‑Temperature Working Environment

Selected nickel‑base alloy cladding systems can withstand continuous working temperature from 500℃‑800℃, resisting high‑temperature oxidation from red‑hot strip steel. Most rollers adopt hollow inner‑water‑cooled structure to further lower roller‑body operating temperature.

✅ Local Strengthening & Roller Remanufacturing

Cladding is only applied on the working cylindrical surface rather than full‑body treatment, saving high‑cost alloy consumables and shortening lead‑time. Worn, corroded or dimension‑deviated old laminar cooling rollers can be restored to original drawing dimension and performance. ‑ Repair cost: 30%‑70% lower than brand‑new rollers ‑ Delivery cycle: shortened more than 50% ‑ Multiple repeated remanufacturing cycles are supported.

✅ Automated & Eco‑Friendly Production

Produced by multi‑axis robotic laser cladding system with automatic powder feeding and intelligent path planning. Coating quality maintains high consistency for bulk orders. Compared with traditional manual hard‑facing welding, it generates less smoke, spatter and energy consumption, complying with green‑manufacturing standards.

Application Scenarios

Exclusively for hot strip mill laminar cooling line, installed between finishing mill and coiler of hot‑rolled strip production lines. Applicable for carbon steel strip, silicon steel strip, low‑alloy hot‑rolled strip and other flat‑steel production. Supports both inner‑cooled and outer‑cooled laminar cooling roller types.
